What to expect

A space to grow musically. Welcoming music enthusiasts of varying skill levels, this lovely get-together is a great way to learn through practice. You may sing and/ or play an acoustic instrument —whether you already know a few tunes or are just beginning to learn.

You'll be working on things such as:

• learning your instrument inside out,
• participating in an ensemble,
• getting to know your voice,
• building your repertoire,
• exploring harmony,
• and more.

We're particularly keen to work with folks who are able to:
• show up with good intentions,
• put in the work to create something beautiful for themselves and others, and
• carry that beauty forward and share it with the world.

Preparing for the workshop

Pick a song (original or cover) that you’re currently working on, or one you’d like to start working on, and prepare to introduce it to everybody — talk about it, share what it means to you, and sing and/or play it, if you feel like it.

First timers

Getting into Studio 38 for the first time can be a bit of a challenge so a short meet-up will be held at the Strelitzia café, for your convenience. Check in with your host around 7PM and no later than 7:15PM. Everyone will then walk together to Pirate Studios (~2 minute walk).

If you end up having to get to the studio by yourself, use the embedded map at the bottom of the page to get to the address and look for this gate. Once there, you’ll pass through three access points fitted with digital locks. Make sure to key in the as displayed.

Facilities

There are washrooms on the first floor at the studios. There is also a small kitchenette on the ground floor, where you can hang out, make yourself a hot drink, or use the microwave. Kindly be aware that no food or open drinks may be enjoyed in the rehearsal studio, but you are welcome to pop out and use the facilities at your leisure.
