What to expect

Mondays at Rosetta Arts are lovely evenings filled with gorgeous tunes from around the world, courtesy of The Flotsam Orchestra and friends. Songs are initially taught by ear, then arranged and rehearsed together, building towards a performance at the end of each term.

Participation

You are welcome to sing, play an acoustic instrument, or do both. Bring along your main instrument or whichever you are learning at the moment. The emphasis is on listening, learning together, and finding your place in the ensemble.

You'll be working on things such as:

• Learning songs and tunes from different musical traditions.
• Developing your ear through listening and repetition.
• Getting to know your voice or acoustic instrument in an ensemble.
• Exploring rhythm, phrasing, and musical expression.
• Building a shared repertoire and shaping arrangements together.
• Rehearsing towards a group performance.

Before the workshop

Complete the sign-up form. If you will be playing, bring your acoustic instrument and the accessories you normally need. A notebook or tablet can be useful for keeping track of what you learn.

Getting there

Facilities and access

Rosetta Arts lists two accessible toilets on the ground floor. First-floor rooms are reached by stairs, and assistance may be needed at the main entrance. If you have access requirements, contact the venue in advance to discuss access to the room used for this workshop.
