What to expect

A space to grow musically. Welcoming music enthusiasts of varying skill levels, this lovely get-together is a great way to learn through practice. You may sing and/ or play any acoustic instrument —whether you already know a few tunes or are just beginning to learn.

You'll be working on things such as:

• learning an instrument inside out,
• participating in an ensemble,
• getting to know your voice,
• building your repertoire,
• exploring harmony,
• and more.

We're particularly keen to work with folks who are able to:
• show up with good intentions,
• put in the work to create something beautiful for themselves and others, and
• carry that beauty forward and share it with the world.

Before the workshop

In preparation for the day, pick a song you’d like to work on. Guests get a bit of time to work on their song, with everyone's help.

First timers

Getting into Studio 38 for the first time can be a bit of a challenge. A short meet-up will be held at the Crown & Castle pub, for your convenience —check in with your host around 6:30PM and no later than 6:45PM. Everyone will then walk together to Pirate Studios (~3 minute walk).

If you end up having to get to Pirate Studios by yourself, use the embedded map/ navigation options at the bottom of the page to get to the address and look for this entrance. Once there, you’ll pass through three access points, each fitted with a digital lock. Make sure to key in the codes as displayed.

Facilities

There are washrooms downstairs at the pub as well as on the first floor at the studios. There is also a small kitchenette on the ground floor at the studios, where you can hang out, make yourself a hot drink, or use the microwave. Kindly be aware that no food or open drinks may be enjoyed in the rehearsal studio, but you are welcome to pop out and use the facilities at your leisure.
