What to expect
A supportive space for folks to grow musically. Welcoming music enthusiasts of varying levels, this lovely get-together is a great remedy for those Monday blues. You may sing and/ or play any acoustic instrument—whether you're just beginning to learn or already know a few tunes. Gentle guidance may be offered occasionally.
Work on things such as
• figuring out a favourite tune—finding the best keys for your current vocal range and/ or instrument, as well as other technical details such as meter, groove, phrasing, etc.
• preparing a folk song for a future Flotsam Sessions workshop
• learning various scale systems
Before the workshop
In preparation for the day, please think of a tune you’d like us to figure out and sing/ play together. If you’re not able to print the lyrics, send an email and we’ll sort them out for you.
First-timers
The studio can be a bit difficult to find, on your own. A short meet-up will be held for your convenience at the Crown & Castle, just outside Dalston Junction station. Check in with your host at the pub around 6:30PM and no later than 6:45PM.
